Urdu Language: Urdu is considered as a sweet language, "shireenzubaan" as we refer to it throughout the world. Did you know that it is the 11th most spoken language in the world. Urdu is one of the most sophisticated languages in terms of beauty and grace. According to the SBS website, there are 69,000 Urdu speakers in Australia out of which 29,722 are in the state of NSW. NSW has the highest Urdu speaking people amongst all the states of Australia as per the Australian Census 2016 data. Urdu is a major language in South Asia, largely spoken in the Indian Sub-continent and is now gaining popularity internationally. Urdu was first developed in and around Delhi in the 13th Century. It is written in an adapted form of the Arabic script and has acquired a large part of its vocabulary from Persian. Linguistically, it belongs to the Indo-European family and is therefore related to English. Urdu is identical to Hindi grammatically. Throughout the Indian Subcontinent, a treasure of art and literature has been written and preserved in Urdu language. As it is such a poetic language, a lot of Bollywood songs have been written by Urdu poets.
